Doulas for Birth

SHARI MCBURNEY, BIRTH DOULA (TOLABOR)

Shari is quite simply one of the best doulas in the Boston area. Her love of birth, extensive knowledge, and empathic temperament are renowned. Not only is she a birth doula, she is a BACE certified childbirth educator, BACE faculty instructor, and Evidence Based Birth Instructor

 

LINDSAY WOLFF, BIRTH DOULA (TOLABOR)

Lindsay has an incredibly kind and generous heart - just being in her presence is uplifting. Previously Lindsay worked as a scientist! Now in addition to being a certified professional birth doula, Lindsay offer antepartum and postpartum doula services, and is the co-founder of Beantown Babies

 

Susanna Mauzy, CPm and Doula

Not only is Susanna a doula, she also works as a home birth midwife based in Arlington and serving the surrounding communities.

 

SHE-TARA L. SMITH

She-Tara meets families where they are at. She is authentic, and is not afraid to go against the grain to do what is best for the birthing families she is supporting. She provides families with the space to be vulnerable with their own feelings, allowing them to grow through these emotions. She-Tara also works as a postpartum doula and childbirth educator.

Sierra has a calming presence, and leads with her heart when working with clients. She specializes in working with marginalized populations, and has extensive knowledge to support families in the LGBTQ+ community.

 

Body Work

Om Births

Run by the fantastic and fantastically knowledgeable Bec Connant, the prenatal and postnatal yoga at Om Births is simply the best there is. Recently Bec moved the team to form The Boston School of Prenatal and Children’s Yoga with Down Under Yoga. You find classes in Brookline, Newton, and Cambridge.

 

Manuela Igel, Lic. Ac.

Manuela is warm, caring and just a joy to work with. She specializes in supporting women throughout their pregnancies using acupuncture, gua sha and cupping. As a mom, she truly gets the impact pregnancy and birthing has on our bodies. You will not meet someone who is more dedicated to helping birthing people on their journey.

Jeanette Mesite Frem, MHS, IBCLC, RLC, CCE, CD

Jeanette is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant serving communities in the metro west and founder of Babies in Common a childbirth education and lactation support company. She is quite simply amazing.

Free breastfeeding support groups run by accredited Mother’s Counselors in local communities

 

Maternal Mental Health

Aviva Bock, Ed.M CCMHC LMHC

Aviva offers a holistic, mind body approach to working with individuals who have experienced trauma. Highly knowledgeable, she has been a teaching associate for Harvard medical school for many years. She is experienced in both traditional psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy techniques as well as somatic modalities such as EFT, EMDR and somatic processing. She truly understands how trauma gets stuck in the body and has experience with a range of strategies to help support healing and integration.

 

Strong ROots Counseling

Strong Roots counseling offers compassionate, non-judgmental, best practice care for children, adolescents and adults. Their nurturing staff helps provide the space to hold one’s unique story. The offer individual, couples and family counseling. Services also include psychological testing, acupuncture, nourishment counseling and psychopharmacology.

 

Erin O’Donnell, Psy.D

Erin’s non-judgmental approach, warmth and humor makes one feel at ease. She meets client’s where the are at and accompanies them on their healing journey with a mixture of skill building and cognitive behavioral therapy. Some of her specialties are working with perinatal mental health, trauma, and child development.

 

Emily Lapolice, LICSW, RYT, TCTSY-F

Emily, the owner of Integrative Wellness Therapies, is trained as a Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), certified yoga instructor, and Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga Facilitator (TCTSY-F). She understands the rich connections between mind and body. Specializing in trauma, anxiety, and perinatal mental health, she provides unique and personalized treatments that support the whole person.

 

Parenting Support

Cobblestones

Resilient Birth is located in the Cobblestones space. Run by the incredible kind and gracious Nicole Croak, a pediatric occupational therapist, certified early intervention specialist and postpartum doula, Cobblestones is the place to bring your baby to find support and community with other moms.

 

Watertown Family Network

Free programs for newborns to preschoolers you won't go wrong attending a Watertown Family Network group. particularly popular is the free New Parent and New Baby Drop In which runs on Friday mornings 9:15-10:45am. Don’t let the early start put you off, parents and babies often trickle in well after the groups official start time

 

The Loved Child

The Loved Child (TLC) located in Belmont, provides expert support, education, and community for expecting families and those with babies and young children. TLC offers a variety of classes including play and parenting classes for first and second time parents, music, art and movement classes, along with evening workshops that cover a variety of topics.

After experiencing exhaustion after many sleepless nights with her twins, Christine realized how much she longed for support in her sleep training journey. This led her down the path to becoming a certified child sleep consultant and founder of Bella Luna Sleep Consulting. Christine supports families by creating personalized plans that encourage the development of healthy sleep habits. She is funny, down to earth and authentic, which makes connecting with her easy for families.
